‘SkyMed (Season 1) 2022’: TV Review :

I just started watching the show this is based on – the Australian version called RFDS Royal Flying Doctor Service. I am curious to see this one in comparison to the CANADIAN version. It cannot be any worse, so I lose nothing. Skymed two thumbs down. Medical mistakes galore. When one of the nurses told a patient she was giving her 25 mcg of fentanyl, and told her it would be fine – NO NO NO. If someone has not taken an opioid either ever or for more than a year – yes it COULD kill the patient. Real doctors might use 12 mcg which is still high, but probably will not kill the person. Also, this was, I think, on a younger, thin woman. This was as bad, medically as Chicago Med! And there were other dumb medical things done – a nurse who has never put in a chest tube (but watched it done once – insert dumbfounded emoji) and under very stressful conditions does not bother to look for a real doctor, but inserts it herself, might have been the moment I knew I could not go on with the episodes. If you like teenage soap operas, go for it. If you have higher standards, do not watch this. It is your choice. This is JMHO. One extra star because the scenery is lovely.

I think a lot of user reviewers are mocking the diverse cast. I know I’m not the target audience since I like more action and less relationship drama. True, it’s a young cast and some of the acting needs more polishing and experience. The scripts seem to be improving which is good IMO. I’m at ep6 watching right now. It’s interesting to me to see the indigenous culture surviving after centuries of colonization. I’m hoping the season finale is as good.
