Minions 2: The Rise of Gru 2022 Film Review:

No words can describe the experience I had while watching this movie. This is something I expect I wont feel again ever in my life. Just the sheer beauty that this movie is makes you feel like you have never felt before I cannot describe it you just have to see for yourself. Im going again tomorrow to hopefully feel that feeling again but I remain doubtful. I will end this review with one final note: Bob may be my favorite fictional character ever. 10/10.

I really enjoyed the other movies from this franchise (i know that minions and despicable me technically are two different franchises but there was way more Gru than minions). This one was unfortunately kind of a letdown. I think that the 1:30hr limit that they chose for every movie from this franchise is a big limiter and makes it almost impossible to make something really good in the end. The movie lacked character development, and a decent enough story to keep me entertained, but most importantly it lacked Minions!! Marketing this title as a Minion movie is just a mistake, there is just not enough of them in this movie, and i know that there is Gru in the name, but the 1:30hr runtime is just not enough to fit 2 plots and it shows. With the huge amount of marketing surrounding this movie, i was hoping for the movie to be really good, unfortunately it was a disappointment.

In the heart of the 1970s, amidst a flurry of feathered hair and flared jeans, Gru (Steve Carell) is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them. Luckily, he gets some mayhem-making back-up from his loyal followers, the Minions. Together, Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto – a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please – deploy their skills as they and Gru build their first lair, experiment with their first weapons, and pull off their first missions. When the Vicious 6 oust their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles (Alan Arkin), Gru interviews to become their newest member. It doesn’t go well (to say the least), and only gets worse after Gru outsmarts them and suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. On the run, Gru will turn to an unlikely source for guidance, Wild Knuckles, and discover that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.
